Wollaston goniometer
Early Wollaston type goniometer (brass) with engraved scale and vernier read-out with twin adjusting wheels, raised on an inverted V-frame, on mahogany plinth base (cut at edge). Diameter circle 11.2 cm. Stored in a plush-covered ebonized base and glass dome.
Signed on circle "Cary London", ca. 1815.

Wollaston goniometer
Early Wollaston type goniometer (brass) with engraved scale and vernier read-out with twin adjusting wheels, raised on an inverted V-frame, on mahogany plinth base. Diameter circle 10.7 cm. Stored in a mahogany box (13.4 x 12.7 x 16.7 cm) that also serves as a support for the goniometer during measurements.
Signed on circle "Cary London", ca. 1815. Also engraved on the circle: "DS & A GEO: LAB: 148".

Signed on circle "Grindel Carlo", 1st half 19th century (before 1847).

Signed on the mirror attachment "M^on Jules Duboscq | Ph. Pellin | Paris", between 1883-1886. The base also carries the engraving "AF 488".

Signed on the mirror attachment "SECRETAN | PARIS", and on a trade label to the lid of the case. Ca. 1880.

Signed on the base "VOIGT & HOCHGESANG | GÖTTINGEN", second half 19th century.

Mitscherlich type goniometer (brass) with telescope, engraved silvered scale (0.5 degree) and vernier read-out with twin adjusting wheels and goniometric head. Blackened brass base. In wooden cabinet. Diameter circle 11 cm.
Signed on the base "Böhm & Wiedemann, München" and marked "M.R.H.N. 101". 1885.
A notice fixed inside the cabinet indicates that this goniometer was bought by the Museum in July 1885, for 298.75 belgian franks, A.F. Renard beeing curator.
